● Neuro Physiotherapy

Neurological rehabilitation at Consult Physio is designed to address each individual's unique impairments in order to maximize physical function and independence. Our physiotherapists have specialized expertise in neurological physiotherapy including advanced training in motor relearning programme, proprioceptive neuro muscular facilitation, bobath, neuro-developmental treatment techniques, and experience in a variety of clinical settings.
 
Consult Physio Peterborough can act as your primary neurological rehabilitation provider, or we can help you continue to progress while you wait to transition from hospital inpatient to outpatient programs. Home care neurological rehabilitation services are also available.

Hydrotherapy

We offer fully supervised 1:1 hydrotherapy in a private, heated, hydrotherapy pool. Your physiotherapist is in the water with you at all times and will guide you through your rehabilitation programme. An ability to swim is not necessary.

You can self refer and we will do a land based pre-assessment in our clinic, which allows the physiotherapist to risk assess and design a highly individualised and effective programme.

All patients receive a print out of their exercises to enable them to continue with their programme outside the therapy sessions.
Our Aquatic Physiotherapists are all trained by ATACP.

● FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation) 

What is FES?
Functional Electrical Stimulation, FES, is the application of electrical impulses to help improve walking and hand/arm function for people with a wide range of neurological conditions, affecting the brain and spinal cord, such as Stroke, MS, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Cord Injury and Head Injury. It is a safe technique that is used to produce muscle contractions to assist your walking or arm movement. Small electrical impulses pass through the skin and activate the nerve that lies beneath the skin which controls the
muscles it supplies. FES devices are stimulators with a trigger to ensure that stimulation occurs when most needed and provides the muscle with the correct amount of stimulus to produce a contraction.
